Leeds United vs Derby County: ‘Rams win would be bigger than Liverpool and Tottenhams Champions League comebacks’, says Ian Holloway
Derby County beating Leeds United to seal their place in the Championship play-off final would be a greater comeback than Liverpool and Tottenham in the Champions League.Forget the Reds stunning 4-0 victory over Barcelona and Spurs last-minute miracle against Ajax in the semi-finals of the biggest competition in club football, as Ian Holloway believes Frank Lampards men could pull of the biggest comeback in recent weeks if they overturn a 1-0 deficit to win at Elland Road.Frank Lampard’s Derby have lost just once in 12 matchesGetty2

The Spygate rivals will go head-to-head again on Wednesday night with a Wembley clash against Aston Villa and shot at Premier League promotion up for grabs.Marcelo Bielsas side are big favourites to go through after their 1-0 first leg victory at Pride Park their third win over Derby this season. But with top striker Kemar Roofe injured and with only one goal in it, the Rams are still very much in the tie.And Holloway believes Lampards charges will eclipse the Champions League finalists remarkable comebacks if they fight their way to Wembley. Speaking on Wednesdays Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former QPR boss said: We all witnessed the most amazing set of comebacks in our football lives last week – the whole week was sensational.City looked like they were down and out [against Leicester] until Vincent Kompanys strike, then you had Liverpool against Barcelona, unbelievable, and then you had Tottenham beat Ajax with the last kick of the game. It was unbelievable! But if Derby can go to Leeds and overcome a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, I would put that escape higher than all those others. We’ve been treated to some exceptional football over the last few weeks with Liverpool and Tottenham reaching the Champions League finalGetty2

Because of Derbys history in recent years, they get to that big game and havent been able to do it. This could turn all of that around.I cant wait to see the game. Its a huge test for Frank Lampard and that team.I think Derby can do anything they want to do, even against the best team in the county at that level. Its just whether they can hold their nerve and produce it.
